Between 2009-2012, CAS presented ‘Piccadilly Revisited’, a multimedia exploration of the life of Anna May Wong, Hollywood’s first Chinese film star.

The classic silent movie ‘Piccadilly’ was set to a live score by Ruth Chan & Suki Mok, with video by Shan Ng & O Zhang, and text by Alice Lee & David Tse.

Performances took place outside the Royal Festival Hall (Thames Festival preview 2009); inside the Linbury Theatre, ROH2 (premiere 2010); Hong Kong Arts Festival 2011 and UK Now Festival (Beijing) 2012.

“The score for Piccadilly Revisited is a shimmering, evocative and jazzy East-West brew”

“With freshly composed music, narration and video, up-and-coming composer Ruth Chan and director David Tse recreated, with a contemporary touch, the life behind the silver screen of Anna May Wong in Piccadilly Revisited. A century of dream through light and shadow, time seemed to have ‘blossomed’ right on stage like the eternal flower of the orient.”
