Julia Cheng is a passionate leader in interdisciplinary work and its power to bring different communities together to create change. The INSPO talks features Lasseindra Ninja, Tom Spurgin and Anu Henriques and will be available live on Julia Cheng’s Instagram account.

This series sees each guest having played a role in pioneering initiatives, breaking barriers and making opportunities for creative collaboration discussing their careers, passions and sharing in the beauty of fusing experiences, art forms and styles.

Julia Cheng

Julia Cheng

Julia Cheng, Creative Director of House of Absolute, choreographer and dance artist specialises in self-produced projects and inter-disciplinary work. She is currently DanceBeds Artist 2021 with the University of Bedfordshire and Artist in Residence 2021 at Philharmonia Orchestra. She is passionate about colliding different communities together and creating positive change.

Lasseindra Ninja

Lasseindra Ninja

Lasseindra Ninja is a professional queer dancer of Guyanese origin, born in 1986. She is an iconic figure in the voguing community in France (also called vogue), an urban dance style invented by queer people of colour in New York in the 1980's.

Tom Spurgin

Tom Spurgin

Tom Spurgin is the Audience Development Manager at Philharmonia Orchestra in London and has served as the Co-Chair of their Equality Group since 2018. Alongside his audience research, community work, and organisational lobbying, he manages the Orchestra’s flagship Artist in Residence programme to diversify the Philharmonia’s programme, artists and audiences with innovative cross-arts collaborations. Prior to his work with the Philharmonia, Tom managed an artist development programme that brought together musicians from across grime, hip-hop, RnB, and electronic music.

Anu Henriques

Anu Henriques

Anu is the founder and co-director of Skin Deep, a collective that makes space for Black creatives and creatives of colour to work towards justice through cultural production. She has worked across all areas of the organisation – print, online and live events. She is currently developing Skin Deep’s upcoming collaborative documentary on environmental justice. Alongside her work at Skin Deep, she joined Fable Pictures (Wild Rose, Stan & Ollie, Rocks) in January 2017 and works across their slate in development and production. As Associate Director of Rocks (2020), a collaborative film about the joy of sisterhood, Anu worked alongside director Sarah Gavron, co-writers Theresa Ikoko and Claire Wilson, the cast and creative team.
